I love this price for a pellet grill because you can score a big, bad grill with a top tier pellet system that will make grilling and smoking so easy.
Pellet grills are life changing and are one of the grill's best kept secrets. If you are a fan of smoking, I don't know how you can really go with anything else.
All of the grills on this list are fan favorites and have a great reputation in the backyard.

$$$ Price 1. Camp Chef Woodwind Classic Pellet Rotisserie with Search Box
The Woodwind is an exceptional smoker rotisserie that offers a complete experience for new and veteran pellet users, along with some upgrades at a price closer to the $ 1,000 mark. . Like the Z grills in our third place, the Camp Chef offers automatic ignition and a dual LED temperature display with a slightly larger range of 160-500 degrees. Dual LEDs monitor internal food and cooking temperatures.
Smart Smoke Technology is designed to allow precise temperature selection with a +/- 5 degree variation, just like Z grills, meaning if you are a griller control cooker or fanatic , you can configure and forget it.
The hopper and augur feed system is also automatic, so it is not constantly regulating operations. The total capacity of the hopper is 22 pounds.
Some fun features that I like at the Camp Chef are the attached bottle opener, the optimized grease management system and simple ash cleaning. The total cooking area between the two grills is 811 square inches, not as big as the other two in our top 3, but it's not too much off.
The main difference between this grill and the Z grills that explains the great price increase is the Sidekick.
This is the small side burner rack to the left of the grill that can act as a folding station, griddle, or additional grill space. It includes a propane connection and the cast aluminum burner offers 30,000 BTUs of power.
Like other standard gas grills, the manifold has a one-touch ignition, an independent grease management system, and wind protection technology to protect your grill from the elements. This is the bell and whistle upgrade which is a great value if you have a little more flexibility in your spending.
If you have extra money to spend, this should be your best option, hands down.
2. Traeger TFB88PZBO Pro Series 34 Racks Pellet Rack & Smoker
This price range of pellet racks really allows you to increase your cooking space and this model from the Traeger Pro series is no exception. From every grill on this list, you'll start to see more square inches and bigger bins.
As creators of the original wood pellet grill, Traeger models are branded and provide an amazing experience for new grills and old professionals. Their customer service is not my favorite, so they are not getting our first place here.
This model is big and sturdy with a cooking area of 884 square inches, which is big enough to handle 8 chickens, 7 ribs or 40 damn burgers. You can comfortably cook for your entire neighborhood with this kid without sweating.
Versatility is great here too, this is a 6 in 1 model and can be used for smoking, baking, broiling, braising and grilling.
Additional features worth noting include an electronic auto start ignition, precision temperature control in 15 degree increments with a range of 180 to 450 degrees, a LED digital readout display, automatic pellet feed for maintain temperatures and facilitate maintenance of fat collection.
The capacity of the pellet hopper is also solid at approximately 18 lbs, so it is not continuously refilled.
Construction is durable and built to last with a steel outer shell coated with a durable powder-coated shell. The grill grates are also porcelain coated for easy cleaning and conduct heat evenly throughout the cooking area.
The entire configuration is equipped with rugged off-road wheels for easy maneuverability.
This is an excellent choice if you are looking for something big and reliable, even if it is new to pellet grills and smokes.
Equipped with updates for 2020, the Z-Grills 10002E is the backyard dream of smoke lovers.
The grill area here is huge, there's no other word for that at 1060 total square inches encompassed by three separate porcelain-covered racks. This grill is so big that you could smoke a whole pig if you wanted.
It also comes with dual meat probes so you can monitor different types of meat simultaneously for perfect cooking.
Z Grills considers this an 8-in-1, which means you can cook just the way you want and cook whatever you want. It offers a temperature range of 180 to 450 degrees and can be adjusted in 20 degree increments for dialing in your kitchen.
Additional features include an electronic ignition for automatic starts, a micro-adjustable variable speed fan and a motor to maintain precision oxygen and pellet levels through the auger, a used sump that is easy to empty and clean, an LCD digital temperature display and durable steel overall construction.
I really like the overall design with an additional front and side rack for prep and I took hooks to keep spatulas, tons and fins within easy reach. The bottom trolley is also convenient for storing additional bags of pellets and other roasting essentials, and the off-road wheels make it easy to move.
The capacity of the pellet hopper reaches 20 pounds, which is the ideal point for us when it comes to grills of this size.
This particular model also comes with a cover and two pellet bags.
4. Traeger Grills TFB38TOD Renegade Pro Pellet Grill and Smoke 380 Sq. In. Cooking Capacity
Traeger offers some of the best-built pellet racks on the market, but they have fallen out of our ranking due to customer service issues that users have been experiencing recently.
The grills are high performance, but when problems arise, the Traeger team has been a disappointment. Putting customer service issues aside, these are some of our favorite grills, so we included them for the performance and specs of their products when they perform as expected, which is generally the case.
So what can you expect from the Renegade? For starters, 380 square inches of grill area and 18-lb. Hopper capacity. Versatility is not as high as the best: the Renegade is a 6-in-1 grill.
Automatic temperature control keeps temperatures within a range of +/- 20 degrees and allows low, slow cooking on smoke ". The electronic ignition is self-starting and the grill racks are easy-to-clean porcelain for a non-stick surface.
I like the lower shelf on earlier versions of this model, but the extra handlebar for hanging tools and overall build quality and stability make up for the design change.
5. Camp Chef SmokePro SG Wood Pellet Grill Smoker
What I like most about this Camp Chef model (and all its pellet smokers) is the upper end of the temperature range.
With these pellet smokers, you get a lot out of grills that are over 450 degrees. That's fine, but if you really want to cook a beautiful steak and end it with a nice steak, those extra 50 degrees is important. The low end also starts at 160 degrees.
Overall size is 429 comfortable square inches with good 18lb pellet hopper capacity which is perfect for almost any long smoke project. Total BTU for quick roast is 25,000 per hour and the grill grate is porcelain coated for even heat distribution.
The included features worth noting are an included internal temperature probe for meat, a top heating grill, automatic ignition, smart Smoke Technology to control heat and dispose of smoke in every bite of meat, and a simple ash cleaning system. The control panel is a dual digital LED with a dial knob, which reports both the internal temperature of the meat and the cooking temperature.
I wish this model had a lower cart (I know I say this a lot!), As I generally appreciate the extra storage, but the build is solid and comes with off-road wheels for easy mobility.
Overall, this is a flavor pickguard, which does a really solid job of infusing that smoky flavor into every bite of whatever you're cooking. Check current price on Amazon
6. Camp Chef SmokePro SGX Wood Pellet Grill Smoker
Do you think the Camp Chef in the place above is quite sweet? Let me introduce you to your best brother, the SGX.
This is the SmokePro on some grilled steroids. It's the biggest rate on our list, coming in at 1,236 square inches in cooking space, that's 7,000 public inches. You can throw a whole pig here, not just a small one.
You are going to want this model if you are cooking regularly for a horde of hungry friends and family or if you are a proficient level of smoker and this is their second job.
All the other features are more or less the same as the smaller SmokePro's, including the electric automatic igniter, automatic auger, single temperature selection sister, dual meat probes, and a dual LED reading. The capacity of the pellet hopper is also a few pounds larger than the 22 pound SG model.
7. Camp Chef XXL Vertical Pellet Smoker with Cap
Okay, guys, if you're reading this list looking for a great vertical horn smoker, here it is, the Camp Chef XXL. This is a vertical style pellet smoker and has the ability to handle anything you throw at it.
Comes with eight 12.5 × 14 racks & # 39; & # 39; that you can pack with ribs, pork ribs, and whole chickens. It includes dual meat probes so you can monitor different types of meat simultaneously, and it also offers a special hanging rack with 12 sausage hooks.
The total temperature range is 150 to 350 degrees and pumps heat at 33,000 BTUs per hour. It has an easy ash cleaning system and a fun bottle opener connected directly to the pellet hopper so you have everything you need at your fingertips.
Total hopper capacity is 18 lbs., One of the largest on this list. The hopper itself has a pellet window so you can easily control the fill level while cooking.
This is a great mega smoker for the serious and dedicated grill.
8. Camp Chef SmokePro LUX Pellet Rack
Maintaining the love of the Camp Chef, here is another big man who is a midway point between the Smoke Pro SG and SGX.
The LUX is a very generously sized grill with 875 square inches of cooking area with porcelain coated cooking grates and a large 18 pound capacity pellet hopper.
It has all of our favorite Camp Chef features, including electronic automatic start ignition, dual LED temperature reading for internal cooking and food temperatures, a stainless steel temperature probe to control meat heat, a rack for heating, an automatic feeding system and an ash collector and an easily accessible grease container.
Overall design utility gets top marks with large bottom carriage, side table, and locking caster wheels. The powder coated stainless steel construction is also durable and built to last season after season.
9. REC TEC Grills | RT-340
This is a great Wi-Fi enabled grill if you're looking for a little extra tech and a little less in terms of square inches.
Size is 340 square inches of primary cooking area, leaving enough headroom for whole and roasted turkeys or 3 rib ribs, an additional warming rack that increases space to 511 square inches. The cooking grates are made of 304 stainless steel that are easy to remove and clean.

External construction is also solid with a stainless steel cook chamber and external frame. The bottom trolley shelf is ideal for additional storage and a side handle leaves room to hang tools.
10. Camp Chef SmokePro DLX Pellet Rack
This has been a pretty good list for Camp chefs, but that's because they really stand out on the pellet rack and their lineup has plenty of solid options.
Total square inches are 570 with a solid 18 lb. hopper capacity with Chef Camp's exclusive ash cleaning system.
Full features include all the usual must-haves, including the electronic ignition system, a dual LED temperature reading showing internal food and cooking temperatures, simple temperature selection, automatic auger dispenser for smoking maximization, a simple grease collection system and porcelain-coated cooking grates.
Overall construction mimics the rest of the Camp Chef line with a solid stainless steel exterior with a powder coated finish, off-road wheels and a comfortable side table for preparing and holding meat while unloading the grill.
